Today was a glorious day, as an estimated 55,000 people attended PSU's Blue-White game. During the day, J.D. Benson verballed to the PSU coaching staff. J.D. plays middle linebacker in high school, but is expected to play outside linebacker at PSU. He is the eight person to verbal to PSU this year, and is the seventh member of the Y2K recruiting class.

The L.A. Times reported today that Rod Perry, Jr. would transfer to PSU. Two years ago, Rod was a top 100 prospect and was recruited by PSU. He signed with USC coming out of HS, but never played for them, as he re-injured his knee. He later switched to Cal State Fullerton, where he played baseball. Recently, he decided that he'd like to play football again, and visited PSU, USC, Wisconsin, and UNLV before deciding to attend PSU. He is a WR/DB prospect, and will have three years of eligibility remaining. Rod intends to enroll at PSU in the summer of '99, and will begin practicing with the team on August 18th. Officially, he will be a member of the '99 or '98 recruiting class (I'm not sure which), but is the seventh player to verbal to PSU this year.

In a press conference at his high school earlier today, Zack Mills publicly verballed to PSU. Zack is 6' 3", weighs 205 lbs., and plays QB. He's considered the top QB prospect in Maryland. PSU has now received public verbals from six players for the Y2K recruiting class.

In today's L.A. Times, it was reported that Zac Wasserman, of Westlake Village, CA, had verballed to PSU. Zac is considered one of the best QBs, if not the best QB, from the state of California. If the report is true, and we have strong reason to believe that it is, Zac is the fifth player to publicly verbal to PSU for the Y2K recruiting class.

On 3/12, in a weekly newspaper published near his home, Jeremiah Davis, a DE from Annandale, VA, announced that he had given a verbal to PSU. Jeremiah is the fourth person to publicly verbal to PSU for the Y2K recruiting class.

In this morning's Baltimore Sun, it was reported that Gerald Smith, a DB/RB from Ellicott City, MD, had verballed to PSU. All of the schools that were recruiting him wanted him as a CB, and that is where it appears he will play at PSU. Gerald is the third person to publicly verbal to PSU for the Y2K recruiting class.

Over the past weekend, multiple sources have reported that Ellery Moore, a DE from Massillion, OH, verballed to PSU. The Canton Repository published such in their 2/28 edition, and Phil Grosz, Bill Kurelic, and PrepStar reported the same at various times during the weekend. Ellery is the second person to publicly verbal to PSU for the Y2K recruiting class.

This morning, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported that PSU had picked up their first verbal for the Y2K recruiting class. B. J. Evangelista, a LB/FB from Murraysville, PA, was the first to publicly accept a scholarship offer from PSU. B. J., we welcome you aboard, and hope that in the coming weeks, a number of prospects join with you.

Our apologies for not updating this page last week. We updated the Targets page, but not this page or the Commitments '99 page. PSU picked up their 11th commitment last week when Terrence Glover (FB/LB, NJ) signed a LOI to attend PSU. Is PSU done recruiting for '99? We really don't know.

The write-ups were modified for all of the prospects that announced last week. We don't have information on the schools with whom every prospect on the Targets '99 page signed. Generally, we shift gears at this time, and start investigating the next year's recruiting. If you discover additional info about some of the prospects listed on the Targets '99 page, please send us an e-mail.

We've already created a preliminary Targets '00 page. It will probably be posted in April or May of this year.
